Decorate In Marvellous Monochrome
There is huge number of ways to create a different ambiance for your home from country house rustic to French style shabby chic and all different styles in between. We always find that one of the most visually appealing is to combine black and white for a dramatic monochrome colour scheme. It can look a little forbidding and cold but this can be avoided by choosing a few simple homely accessories like perfumed candles or photo frames or something similar. We find the luxury scented candles by Shearer Candles are among the most impressive on the market and, by good fortune, their most recent collections feature quite a few attractive smoky black jar candles which are ideally suited to the monochrome style. Or else try a beautiful black glasss reed diffuser. Monochrome is also an ideal look when the room you are decorating already has an element of vibrant colour in its design. You may, for example, have a bright vibrant wallpaper in in a particular room or a zany rug in your dining room. If that is the case sometimes the addition of still more colour or patterns can become just too much. In the dining room you could always try adding a black stained oak dining table and matching chairs while in a living room you could go for white or black lacquerd occasional tables which would not clash with the pre existing colour scheme in place. If you adopt this approach you will find that the pieces of furniture really stand out from the rest of the room, making them an attractive focal point. One word of caution with this technique . Because monochrome pieces do indeed tend to stick out quite clearly, try to buy the best you can afford. If people’s attention is going to be focussed on these particular items, you want them to be admired. The last thing you would want is for people to notice your furniture but be left with the impression that you have tried to do things on the cheap.
